Antique English Silverplate Egg Service for 6

An example of the Victorian near-obsession of providing a proper method for serving each and every item of food, is the egg cruet. Sometimes referred to as an egg frame, it was made precisely for holding and serving boiled eggs. The earliest known examples of the egg cruet date back to the 1740s, but it was the Victorian era that saw the peak of the egg cruet's popularity. 

Found at market in the north of England, we are so pleased to present an especially lovely example of an egg cruet. Like petals of a flower, the unique sexfoil design of the stand securely holds one egg cup in each of its six lobes. The 6 coordinating spoons stand at the ready between each egg cup and the entire base is finished with a lovely arched gallery that is mirrored in the engraved arched pattern embellishing each of the egg cups. 

Standing on stylized paw feet and with an ornate central handle for ease of transport to and from the breakfast table, we are certain this egg cruet will become one of the most beloved pieces in your collection, bringing its lasting sparkle and timeless elegance to the start of the day.
