Cunard Line. The very name conjures up images of the glamorous days of steamship travel. Founded in 1839 by Samuel Cunard, the company was established primarily to carry the Royal Mail to and from Canada and the United States. A global leader in shipping, Cunard went on to build some of the largest, fastest, most luxurious ships to ever sail the seven seas.
After World War II, Cunard's Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth ships began their transatlantic shuttle, carrying tens of thousands of passengers, from film stars and diplomats to businessmen and tourists. Since its beginning, Cunard has operated the most famous oceanliners in the world.
Found at market in the north of England, a cache of unused bakelite Cunard Line Ashtrays. Produced in England exclusively for the Cunard Line ships, these wonderful souvenirs of steamship history date from the glory days of ocean voyage.
Circa 1930s. Measures 4" in diameter. The condition of the ashtrays varies slightly, but all are in very good unused vintage condition, showing only the slightest signs of age. Limited quantities and subject to prior sale.
